Fire -
1. Bid went out for the new SCBA equipment on May 6th, 2014. Bids will be opened May 21, 2014. Ordinance at June meeting for contract.
2. Stroke Education Signs at street and on paramedic units.
3. Aluminum Caps from the fire hydrants are being replaced with a new type of cap. Chief Hauck indicated that they would like to melt down the old caps and have fire marks cast and sold to raise funds for fire public education fund. They would be sold for $50 each.
4. Lightning Detection for the village grounds has been reviewed. Three options were presented to the committee. The system that would give us the best protection for our residents and guests would be about $7000. The Thor Guardian Deluxe would give 700 yards notification in all directions. It provides an all clear alert and a secondary horn can be added if needed. The system can be turned off during non-needed hours to prevent alerts during hours when the facilities are not being utilized.
Chief Hauck will check with the Solicitor and our Insurance company as to liability of having, or not having the system. The committee is recommending to move forward with the purchase, providing concerns of liability are not presented.

1. 42 people have returned applications for police officer. May 16th is the deadline for applications.
